I have had acne for as long as I could remember. In middle school and high school, I primarily had cystic acne on my forehead and chin. On the other hand, throughout my college experience, I've been struggling hardcore with cystic acne on my cheeks. If you've ever had cystic acne, you know how painful and stubborn it can be. Pimples occur when a pore on your skin gets clogged, usually from dead skin cells, and traps bacteria causing the area to become inflamed and swollen. Cystic acne is when the infection is deep in the skin making them very large, painful, and difficult to get rid of.
I've always felt slightly embarrassed to have such horrible acne especially since my mom works in a dermatologist office. But when I say I've tried everything- I truly mean that I have tried everything from drugstore, to high end, to prescription products. After so much trial and error, I finally feel like I have developed a skincare routine that has not only helped clear my skin but has also lifted my self-esteem higher than I ever thought it could go.
Below is my very extra skincare routine + how I use each product.
1) Almay Makeup Remover + Foaming Lotion Cleanser
With my full face of makeup on, I start off by wetting my face and using two pumps of this cleanser to remove the majority of my makeup. It easily melts makeup off your skin, including eye makeup.
2) Olay Daily Facial Hydrating Cleansing Cloths
After rinsing off as much of makeup off from the cleaner, I then go in with these cleansing cloths to remove any extra makeup that I couldn't get with my fingers. I focus this mainly on my eyes, brows, hairline, jaw, and neck.
3) Yes To Blueberries Age Refresh Cleansing Facial Wipes + Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water
After using the Olay clothes, I go in last with micellar water on these facial wipes to ensure all of my makeup is off especially any leftover mascara or foundation around the perimeter of my face/neck.
4) Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser + FOREO LUNA Play
As my final cleanse, I take one pump of my jelly cleanser on my Luna Play to hydrate my skin while also deeply cleaning my pores.
5) Moisturize ( H2O+ Beauty Rapids Probiotic Sorbet Moisturizer, H2O+ Beauty Oasis Hydrating Treatment, GlamGlow Glowstarter Moisturizer)
Depending on how dry my skin is, at nighttime, I usually switch between the H2O Rapids and Oasis moisturizers. For the day time, I love the GlamGlow Glowstarter moisturizer because not only does it hydrate my skin but it gives me a perfect glow on its own or under foundation.
6) H2O+ Infinity+ Firming Eye Therapy
Using only a small pea-sized amount of this, I dab it under my eyes at night.
7) Sunday Riley UFO Ultra Clarifying Acne Treatment Face Oil
Using a 3 drops total (one per cheek and one of my forehead) I pat this oil into my skin. This product has helped my acne in ways I could've never imagined. Although it is pricey, if you're struggling with acne I really recommend giving this product a shot.
8) Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
I usually do steps 1-7 right after I get home from class/work. From the time I finish that routine, I leave a few hours for those products to really seep into my skin. Right before bed, I apply this sleeping mask. Not only does it leave my skin so insanely glowy but it has also been helping clear up my acne and fading old scars.
9) Vaseline

If there is anything I smother on my face, it is vaseline all over my lips. Chapped lips, we don't know her.
